Can you tell me which tuner & software you are using? My ATI All-In-Wonder Pro 128 AGP card is working fine with XawTV. However this card will only do mono sound with the internal aux port; I get stereo by running a line from the external sound output to the aux input of the sound card. It's just a hardware thing with this particular card.
I know this will sound dumb, but also make sure that your aux sound level isn't muted or turned down too low in the sound mixer.
Once you get it all working it's great... you can rot your brains watching TV under Linux (watching SciFi as I type this)!
