I've also used FreeBSD extensively for work. They are really easy to setup if you want to run a NAT box with ip masquerading/firewall built-in to the default install. I'd recommend the new version they have out 4.4. I haven't used it myself (we use 4.3 at work), but I've heard it has some nifty improvements.
